KONYA – SKOPJE
Flight from Konya to Skopje with AJET HY’s charter plane and arrival. Accompanied by our vehicle and guide waiting for us at the airport, we begin our Skopje city tour. We start our Skopje city tour from the historic Ottoman Turkish Bazaar. During this time, the places we will see include: the jeweler’s street in the bazaar, Skopje Fortress, the Vardar River, the Stone Bridge dating from the 16th century, the Turkish and Jewish quarters, the Davut Pasha Complex, Mustafa Pasha Mosque, Sultan Murad Mosque, Isa Bey Mosque, the Double Hammam, Sulu Han, Kapan Han, Kurşunlu Han, the Clock Tower, Skopje Square, and in the square the giant statue of Alexander the Great, opened in 2011 and causing a political dispute with Greece, as well as the statues of Tsar Samuel and Cyril and Methodius. After our walking tour, we head to our local restaurant for dinner. After dinner, overnight at our hotel.
SKOPJE – PRISTINA SULTAN MURAD TOMB – PRIZREN – SKOPJE
After an early breakfast at the hotel, departure for the capital of Kosovo, Pristina. We visit the tomb in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, which has played key roles in many periods of Ottoman history, where the internal organs of Ottoman Sultan Murad I Hüdavendigar, who was martyred in the Battle of Kosovo in 1389, are buried. We also visit the Selamlık building right next to the tomb, which is used as a museum. Inside the building, we have the opportunity to see photos of the visit of Sultan Reşad, the last Ottoman Sultan to visit the Balkans in 1911. On the way from the tomb to Prizren, we see the square and the monument in the square where, in 1989, Yugoslav President Slobodan Milošević launched his election campaign on the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo and where he first used the phrase “Greater Serbia,” which would later bring about the end of Yugoslavia. After a one-and-a-half-hour journey, we arrive in Prizren, Kosovo’s second largest city, where many Ottoman آثار are found. We begin our Prizren city tour. On this walking tour with our guide, we will see: the Halveti Dervish Lodge, Gazi Mehmet Pasha Hammam, the Bayrakli Mosque, the Namazgah where Fatih Sultan Mehmet’s army prayed, the Maraş district and Maraş Bridge, the 400-year-old great plane tree, Emin Pasha Mosque, the building of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Prizren, the Stone Bridge on the Bistrica (Akdere), Shadervan Square, Sinan Pasha Mosque, the churches of Saint George and the Catholic Church, the minaret of the Arasta Mosque whose mosque was demolished during the Yugoslav era but whose minaret managed to remain standing, and the Serbian quarter where we can still see the devastating effects of the war. After our tour, free time to enjoy this beautiful city. Then, at the time determined by our guide, we head to our local restaurant for dinner, and after dinner we travel to our hotel in Skopje for overnight stay.
SKOPJE – KALKANDELEN – OHRID
07:00 Breakfast. 08:00 Departure from the hotel. After breakfast, we travel by bus to Kalkandelen (Tetovo), a charming town built during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent and located 1 hour from Skopje. (Skopje – Kalkandelen 40 KM) Our first of two important stops in Kalkandelen is the Harabati Baba Dervish Lodge, the Bektashi center of the period. After receiving information about the lodge from Cemali from Tetovo, the lodge’s 20-year guardian and caretaker, we go to Abdulmuttalip, the Bektashi dervish residing in the other corner of the lodge, and listen to the history of the lodge and the work being done there from him as well. Then, with our vehicle, we visit the Colorful Mosque built in 1833 by Abdurrahman Pasha. The interior and exterior decorations of the mosque, made with paint created by mixing animal blood, plant roots, and egg whites, will fascinate you. The decorations are in the Baroque style, which is rarely seen in Ottoman works. (Kalkandelen – Ohrid 130 KM) Then we continue toward Ohrid. Upon arrival in Ohrid, we will take a tour introducing the historic city of Ohrid, which became one of the important bases of the Ottoman Empire in the Balkans. The places we will see during our tour; the 11-century-old plane tree, Zeynel Abidin Pasha Lodge (Halveti Lodge), Ali Pasha Mosque, the city square and the Ohrid Bazaar famous for its pearl shops, the Statue of Saint Clement, the shop where paper production can be seen using a technique applied in China in the 2nd century BC in streets reminiscent of Safranbolu, the Church of Saint Sophia, and the Ancient Theatre. After our tour, following dinner at our local restaurant overlooking Lake Ohrid, overnight at our hotel in Ohrid.
OHRID - STRUGA – ELBASAN – TIRANA – SHKODRA – PODGORICA (or Shkodra accommodation)
07:00 Breakfast. 08:00 Departure from the hotel. After breakfast at our hotel, our first stop is the town of Struga, located on the western shore of Lake Ohrid and where the majority of the population is Muslim. (Ohrid – Struga 14 KM) In Struga, we see the Black Drin River originating from Lake Ohrid and receive general information about Struga from our guide. Then we set off toward Albania. We enter Albania through the Kafasan border gate. As soon as we enter Albania, especially in the border region, we see the mushroom-shaped concrete shelters called “bunkers,” built by the famous dictator Enver Hoxha, who governed the country between 1945 and 1985, and said to number around 300,000. Our first stop in Albania is Elbasan. (Struga – Elbasan 78 KM) We pass through the city by bus and stop at Elbasan Fortress in the city center. After seeing the Turkish streets around the fortress and the Hünkar Mosque, we continue our journey toward the capital, Tirana. (Elbasan – Tirana 42 KM) In Tirana, which was developed by Suleiman Pasha in 1614 and has been the capital of Albania since 1920, the places we will see on our panoramic bus tour are: the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, the U.S. Embassy, the construction of the Namazgah Mosque with four balconies financed by the Diyanet Foundation, the statue of Suleiman Pasha, founder of Tirana, Tirana city square, Ethem Bey Mosque, Clock Tower, National Museum, University Building, Opera and Ballet Building, the statue in the square of Skanderbeg, the national hero of the Albanians, the Parliament and ministry buildings, and the Presidential Palace.
After our Tirana tour, our next stop is the city of Shkodra, established beside Lake Shkodra, which forms the border between Albania and Montenegro. (Tirana – Shkodra 115 KM) We will see the city fortress and walls in this city, which remained under Ottoman rule for 435 years and was strategically one of the most important cities in the Balkans. During the break we will give in the city center, we will take a short walking tour. After free time in the center, we head to Montenegro, one of the 6 republics of the former Yugoslavia and which separated from Serbia by referendum in 2006. (Shkodra – Podgorica 55 KM) We have dinner at our local restaurant in the capital Podgorica and then go to our hotel.

PODGORICA (or Shkodra) – ST STEFAN – KOTOR – MOSTAR
07:00 Breakfast. 08:00 Departure from the hotel. After breakfast, panoramic city tour by bus in the capital Podgorica. During our tour; the Presidential Palace, the city park built by Azerbaijan, the Millennium Bridge, and the Statue of King Nikola are among the places. Then we continue toward the coastline. We continue on our way and arrive at St. Stefan island. After the photo break we will give here to immortalize the magnificent view, our next stop is the medieval city of Kotor, protected by UNESCO. On the city tour we will do with our local guide in Kotor, the places we will see include; the Arms Square, the Clock Tower, the Pillar of Shame, St. Tryphon Cathedral, the Craftsmen Street, the Tulumba Fountains, the River Gate and St. Luke’s Square. After free time, departure for Bosnia and Herzegovina. We enter Bosnia and Herzegovina and arrive in Mostar by passing through the towns of Trebinje, Ljubinje, and Stolac. (Kotor – Mostar 186 KM) After dinner at our local restaurant, overnight at our hotel in Mostar.
MOSTAR – BLAGAJ – JABLANICA – KONJIC – SARAJEVO
07.00 Breakfast – 08.00 Departure from the hotel. We leave our hotel and begin our Mostar tour. Among the places to be seen during our tour; the Martyrs’ Mosque and the cemetery in its courtyard, (one feature of this cemetery is that Croatian and Serbian Mostar residents who fought shoulder to shoulder with Muslim Bosniaks during the war are also buried there), the Mostar Bazaar with paved streets processed with stones collected from the region’s special river, the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque (this is the mosque from which the most beautiful photo of the bridge is taken), the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Mostar, Mostar Bridge – a single-arch bridge built in 1566 by Mimar Hayrettin, a student of Mimar Sinan, destroyed in 1993 and restored again in 2004, Tara Tower – these towers once served teams ensuring bridge security, but today operate as a museum, Kriva Cuprija – the Crooked Bridge, Tabakhane Mosque and Hammam – a mosque built specially for the notables engaged in leatherwork so that their odor would not disturb worshippers in other mosques, and from which water flows underneath.
Then we head to the Alperenler Lodge, established 5 centuries ago at the source of the Buna River. (Mostar – Blagaj 12 km) On the way, we see Mostar Airport and the military area built opposite the airport during the Yugoslav era and used as a shelter for aircraft. This area was prepared by hollowing out the hill right opposite the airport to hide airplanes.
We visit the lodge, also known as the Yarı Saltuk Lodge, built at the source of the Buna River, from which water flows at up to 43,000 liters per second and whose source has not yet been reached. We visit the tomb of Ali Pasha and the tomb of Sarı Saltuk inside the lodge, and in this two-story house built in the style of a typical Anatolian house, we see the women’s prayer room, the gathering room, the men’s prayer and dhikr room, the small bathhouse and the room used as a retreat room and kitchen. Guests who wish may drink Turkish tea in the courtyard overlooking the river.
Our next stop is Jablanica, the city where the battle took place in which Josip Broz Tito, founder of Yugoslavia, received the title of marshal. (Yablanitsa, Blagaj – Jablanica 59 KM) In this city, also famous for its roasted lamb, we see the bridge destroyed by Tito in 1943 in his struggle against the German Nazis and the area where the event took place. Then we arrive in the city of Konjic, our next stop. (Konyits, Jablanica – Konjic 23 KM) In this small city of 50,000 people, established by the Neretva River, among the places we will see are the Ottoman bridge damaged during World War II and the 1992–95 war and restored by the Turkish General Directorate of Highways and TIKA, the mosque with a broken minaret, and the mini bazaar restored in accordance with the original. After our photo break, we continue our journey. Our final stop today is Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (Konjic – Sarajevo 50 KM) Upon arrival, we have dinner at our local restaurant and go to our hotel for overnight stay.
SARAJEVO – BELGRADE
After breakfast at our hotel, we check out at 08:00 and leave the hotel. We proceed toward Baščaršija. Along our route, we see buildings still bearing traces of the wartime bombardment, the tram line that was the first electric motor tram line in Europe and still actively runs across Sarajevo, the buildings belonging to the Yugoslav People’s Army from the Tito era and now used as the Sarajevo university campus, the United States’ building of the world’s second largest embassy, the Sarajevo city museum, the Parliament building, and the largest shopping mall in the region built by Arab investors, and arrive at Baščaršija. Our first stop is the martyr cemetery where the martyrs of the tragic war of 1992–1995 and Alija Izetbegović’s memorial tomb are located. We recite Fatiha for the war martyrs and receive information from our guide about Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first President, Alija Izetbegović, and his life. Then, passing through the cobblestone Bosniak-Turkish quarter that survived from the Ottoman period, we begin our walking tour of Baščaršija. Among the places we will see during our tour; the Sebilj built with 18th-century Bosnian architecture, the only active artisan street that has survived from the Ottoman period, “Coppersmiths Street,” the Bazaar Mosque, Morića Han and the “Mladi Muslimani” headquarters of the Young Muslims organization located inside it, the mosque and tomb of Gazi Husrev Bey, the cousin of Suleiman the Magnificent, the Clock Tower, the Kuršumli Medresa, the Gazi Husrev Bey Museum and Library, Europe’s first public toilet, the Latin Bridge known as the place where World War I began, the Hünkar Mosque built in the name of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, Horse Square – Archery Square, the Bakır Baba Mosque built by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, the Orthodox Church, Alija Izetbegović Park and the Sarajevo retirees who always play chess in the park, the Ferhadija Mosque, Ferhadija Street (Sarajevo’s Istiklal Avenue), the Jewish Synagogue, the Catholic Church – Cathedral – Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Sarajevo Roses (points where more than one person lost their lives due to a bomb during the war), the site of the Bread Factory massacre, the eternal flame lit in memory of the liberation of Sarajevo occupied by the Germans by the Yugoslav army on April 6, 1945, the Markale neighborhood market where 68 people lost their lives in the Market Place massacre on February 5, 1994, and the Vječna (Vijećnica) library, built during the Austro-Hungarian period as the Government House (City Hall) and burned during the war, causing many manuscripts to turn to ashes. After our walking tour in Baščaršija, departure for Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Upon arrival, we have dinner and overnight at our hotel.
BELGRADE – KONYA
After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, we begin our Belgrade city tour. During this tour, New Belgrade, Tito’s Mausoleum in Dedinje, the New Palace of Justice, the Federal Parliament, Terazije Street, the National Theatre, Belgrade Fortress, one of the supply centers of the Ottoman navy, Square of the Fortress, Stone Square, the Tomb of Martyr Ali Pasha, Bayrakli Mosque, and the Church of the Virgin Mary of the Rose are among the places we will visit, followed by the Sava Cathedral, the General Staff building bombed by NATO in Belgrade in 1999 due to the Kosovo events, the police headquarters building, and the Chinese Embassy. After free time, departure for Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. After passport and customs procedures, departure for Konya with the flight at …… and arrival.

Then, passing through the Bosniak-Turkish neighborhood with cobblestone streets that has managed to survive from the Ottoman period, we begin our walking tour of Baščaršija. Among the places we will see during our tour are; Sebilj, built in 18th-century Bosnian architecture, Bakırcılar Street, the only active arts street that has survived from the Ottoman period, Çarşı Mosque, Moriça Han and the Young Muslims organization headquarters inside it, ‘Mladi Muslimani’, Gazi Husrev Bey Mosque and tomb, the nephew of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, the Clock Tower, Kurşunlu Madrasah, Gazi Husrev Bey Museum and Library, Europe’s first public toilet, the Latin Bridge known as the place where World War I began, Hünkar Mosque built in the name of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, Horse Square – Archery Field, Bakır Baba Mosque built by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, the Orthodox Church, Alija Izetbegović Park and the Sarajevo retirees who constantly play chess in the park, Ferhadiye Mosque, Ferhadiye Street (Sarajevo’s Istiklal Street), the Jewish Synagogue, the Catholic Church – Cathedral – Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sarajevo Roses (points where more than one person lost their lives in a single bomb during wartime), the site of the Bread Factory massacre, the eternal flame lit in memory of the liberation of Sarajevo occupied by the Germans by the Yugoslav army on April 6, 1945, the Markale neighborhood market, known as the market massacre on February 5, 1994, where 68 people lost their lives, and the Vjecnica (Vijećnica) library, which was built during the Austro-Hungarian period as the Government House (Municipal building) and was burned during the war, causing many manuscripts to turn to ash. After our walking tour in Baščaršija, we depart for Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Upon our arrival, we have dinner and stay overnight at our hotel.
After the breakfast we will have at the hotel in the morning, we start our Belgrade city tour. During this tour, New Belgrade, Josip Broz Tito’s Mausoleum in Dedinje, the New Palace of Justice, the Federal Parliament, Terazije Street, the National Theatre, Belgrade Fortress, one of the supply centers of the Ottoman navy, Fortress Square, Stone Square, the Tomb of Ali Pasha Martyr, Bayraklı Mosque, Church of Saint Mary of the Rose, and then Sava Cathedral, the General Staff Building bombed by NATO in Belgrade in 1999 because of the Kosovo events, the police headquarters building, and the Chinese Embassy are among the places we will see.
