Carved directly into a rocky cliffside, this magnificent monument was begun during the Tang Dynasty and stands approximately 71 meters tall, making it one of the largest stone Buddha statues in the world. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Leshan Giant Buddha is notable not only for its colossal size but also for the engineering details that have ensured its preservation over centuries and its striking natural setting. The Buddha figure sits majestically overlooking the river junction, with its head rising to the same level as the surrounding mountains and its feet extending down to the riverbank. Throughout our visit, our guide will share insights into the statue's history, construction process, and significance within Chinese Buddhism, while we enjoy the area's natural scenery and historic atmosphere. Upon arrival in Beijing, we meet our private vehicle and begin our Beijing tour, which reflects both the city's imperial heritage and its modern political and cultural identity. Our first stop is Tiananmen Square, one of the world's largest urban squares and a site that has witnessed significant events in China's recent history. After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, you will have free time. Guests who wish may join an optional tour to the Great Wall and Summer Palace with lunch (100 EUR), organized by our guide. Our first stop will be the Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 220 BC to prevent northern invasions by Central Asian Turks. After visiting the Great Wall, we will enjoy lunch and then explore the magnificent Summer Palace located on the shores of Kunming Lake. The Summer Palace, situated in northwest Beijing, is China's best-preserved imperial garden and palace complex. Its history dates back to the Jin Dynasty in the 12th century, but its current form was shaped during the Qing Dynasty under Emperor Qianlong in the 18th century. The emperor commissioned this site as a retreat from the bustling main palace, offering a place to relax amidst nature. The palace suffered damage during the Second Opium War in 1860 and was later restored using funds diverted from the navy budget by Empress Dowager Cixi. Although controversial, it is widely believed that the palace's present elegance is the result of these detailed restoration efforts. Next, we will view the Bird's Nest, Beijing's Olympic Stadium, from the outside. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant during the tour. Afterwards, we will transfer back to the hotel and spend the night there.

Surrounded by towering red walls and golden-roofed structures, this vast complex was the heart of imperial power and remained closed to the general public for centuries, hence its name "Forbidden City." We will have the opportunity to explore its hundreds of palace halls, courtyards, and imperial gardens. Following our visit to the Forbidden City, we will proceed to the Temple of Heaven, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant religious complexes where emperors from past dynasties prayed for abundant harvests and celestial blessings. Regarded as one of the finest examples of Chinese architecture, this sacred site features expansive parklands and ceremonial structures, having once been a central venue for imperial rituals. After the tour, we will transfer back to the hotel. Overnight stay at a Beijing hotel.
