Suggested Evening Activity in Lisbon: Fado Night That Lets You Feel the Spirit of Portugal

In Lisbon’s authentic atmosphere, at special evenings held in a traditional Fado house; Fado artists who set sorrow, love, and longing to music will enchant you with melodies that touch the heart of Portugal.

 

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT

This trip is organized with a minimum participation requirement of 30 people. If sufficient participation is not achieved, the final cancellation notification date is 20 days before the tour start date. The tour canceled due to insufficient participation will be communicated to you through your agency.

You must have a passport valid for 6 months from the end date of travel and not older than 10 years.

For destinations requiring a visa, the visa application must be made with the documents specified in the “Documents Required for Visa” list that your agency will provide for your application.

In order to avoid problems with customs police at the border crossing of the country to be visited due to passports that are torn, worn, wet, and/or otherwise damaged; such passports must be renewed, and if the destination country requires visas for T.C. citizens, the relevant visa must be in the new passport. Otherwise, responsibility belongs to the passenger.

Since our guests under the age of 18 traveling alone or with only one parent may be asked by the police officer in charge of entry and exit to the country for a document showing the mutual consent of the parents; we recommend that our guests under 18 and their parents pay special attention to this matter.

HEALTH

There is no vaccination requirement upon entry to Portugal. We do not expect any problem that would threaten your health with meals taken in good restaurants and hotels in the region. However, when you are not with the group, we recommend that you be careful about food and drink; that you definitely consume bottled water, avoid ice, milk and dairy products, consume meat and fish products that you are sure are well cooked, and for fruit, eat fruits that can be peeled such as bananas and pineapples.

OPTIONAL TOURS & ACTIVITIES

Optional tours and activities are organized by the local agency we work with with a minimum participation requirement of 20 people, and participation is not mandatory. If the required number is not reached, excursions cannot be carried out, or the prices, content, and vehicle to be used for optional tours/activities may vary depending on the number of participants. In addition, the days and times of the optional tours/activities may be changed by the guide depending on whether museums, archaeological sites, or venues in the places to be visited are open/closed and on weather conditions.

ACCOMMODATION

During fairs, congresses, concerts, events, sports tournaments, etc., hotels may be used at distances greater than the stated kilometers.

Triple rooms may be provided depending on hotel availability, and the bed offered to the 3rd person in such rooms may be smaller than standard beds. Triple rooms consist of 1 large bed and 1 extra bed. Since extra beds are foldable or called "coach beds"; participants making reservations for a 3rd person and/or a child are deemed to have acknowledged the cramped conditions that may occur in the rooms and the bed type.

Child discounts are valid for only one (1) child staying with 2 adults and falling into the age group specified in the pricing section.

Breakfasts taken at the hotel among the services included in the tour program are served in accordance with the breakfast culture of the country being visited and generally as a limited menu called “continental breakfast,” consisting of butter, jam, bread, tea or coffee, and may be served in a separate hall assigned to the group for groups.

CURRENCY

The currency of Spain and Portugal is Euro (EUR).

It is useful to have Euro (EUR) and Dirham (MAD) with you.

TIME ZONE

Spain and Portugal are 3 hours behind Turkey during daylight saving time and 2 hours behind during winter time.

For example, when it is 18:30 in Turkey in summer, it is 15:30 in Spain.

TELEPHONE USE

It can be used if your mobile phone line is open for international calls (roaming).

CLOTHING AND NECESSARY ITEMS

If you are traveling in the summer season; we recommend that you bring T-shirts, short- and long-sleeved shirts that can be easily put on and taken off, cotton trousers, shorts, comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket for the evenings, and a thin sweater.

In addition; you may also bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, earplugs against possible noise, a camera, a video camera, and their chargers as well as spare memory cards. In the winter period, we recommend clothes that allow you to move comfortably and keep you warm.

FOOD CULTURE

Spanish cuisine derives from a complex history in which the invasions and conquests of Spain changed traditions and introduced new ingredients for use. Thus, Spain's current and old cuisine combines old and new traditions. Gazpacho soup, Fajita, and the delicious snack Tapas are among the important flavors of the cuisine.

ELECTRICITY

Electrical outlets are the same as in Turkey.

SHOPPING

There is an opportunity to shop at shopping centers located in city centers and at small stalls selling souvenirs.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Having a valid passport and/or having obtained a visa (for destinations/passports requiring a visa) does not necessarily mean that entry into the country will be permitted. Passport police have the authority to refuse you entry into the country. Bin Rota is not responsible for this situation; responsibility belongs to the passenger.

Children aged 0-2 do not pay airport tax and airport service fees.

The panoramic city tours included in the tour package are tours organized for the general introduction of the cities, conducted with guide commentary from inside the vehicle, and do not include museum or archaeological site entrance fees, and last a maximum of 2-3 hours. Bin Rota is not responsible if panoramic tours and other tours specified in the program cannot be carried out on the day and time they coincide with due to places that are not allowed to be visited or entered by local authorities, or due to closed roads; likewise, in cases where the tour cannot be carried out due to weather conditions. Some tours may be conducted by public transportation or on foot, where possible, at points where roads are closed or vehicle entry is not allowed.

Tour Program
Istanbul – Porto
After meeting our guide at Istanbul Airport International Terminal, we complete our baggage drop and ticketing procedures at the Turkish Airlines counter. Following these procedures, we depart for Porto on Turkish Airlines’ scheduled flight. Upon arrival, we will take a panoramic city tour of Porto, where places we will see include Porto Cathedral, Historic Wine Cellars, Liberdade Square, Batalha Square, Clérigos Tower, the Ribeira District, Arrábida Bridge, Boa Vista, Dom Luís I Bridge, São Francisco Church, the Stock Exchange Palace, and São Bento Train Station. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel and check into our rooms. Afterwards, there will be free time to relax or explore the surroundings. Overnight at the hotel.
Porto
After breakfast at our hotel, we have free time. For those who wish, we depart for the optional Guimarães & Braga & Bom Jesus do Monte Tour (80 Euro), to be held in the north of Portugal. Our first stop is Guimarães, known as the “birthplace of Portugal.” In this historic city, also known as the birthplace of the country’s first king, Afonso Henriques, we walk through its medieval stone streets and visit Guimarães Castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza. We then set off for Braga, one of the most important religious centers in the country. In this city, which stands out with its rich religious heritage and magnificent structures, we have the opportunity to see Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga), the oldest cathedral in Portugal. After exploring these special cities where history, culture, and architecture intertwine throughout the day, we return to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
Porto – Lisbon
After breakfast at our hotel, we set off for Lisbon. Then we will take the Aveiro & Óbidos & Nazaré & Batalha & Fátima tour, covering some of Portugal’s most impressive historical and cultural sites. Our first stop is Aveiro, known as the “Venice of Portugal” for its canals, colorful gondolas (moliceiro), and Art Nouveau architecture. Next, we head to the town of Óbidos, which with its stone streets, walled structure, and white houses decorated with flowers, resembles a medieval fairy tale. In this city, which was given by the king as a wedding gift to his queen, you will also have the opportunity to taste the traditional cherry liqueur “Ginja.” We then turn our route to Nazaré, a traditional fishing village on the Atlantic coast; it is famous for its giant waves, endless ocean views, and cultural character. After that, we will visit Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the masterpieces of Gothic architecture, notable for its fascinating stone craftsmanship. The final stop of the day is Fátima, a sacred city visited by millions of pilgrims each year, famous for the belief that the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in 1917 and for the miracle known as the “Three Secrets of Fátima.” After our tour, we continue our journey to Lisbon. Upon arrival, transfer to our hotel and free time. Overnight in our Lisbon hotel.
Lisbon
After breakfast at our hotel, we will have free time. For those who wish, we depart for the optional Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, and Cabo da Roca Tour (80 EUR), offering unique views surrounded by nature and history. Our first stop is the fairytale town of Sintra, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the Portuguese royal family’s summer palaces. In Sintra, with its colorful palaces, lush green hills, and historical atmosphere, we enjoy a pleasant walk. Next, we arrive at Cabo da Roca, known as the westernmost point of the European continent and described as “where the land ends and the sea begins.” Here, we take a photo break amid the impressive scenery overlooking the endless Atlantic Ocean. We then visit the town of Cascais, famous for its elegant streets and lively waterfront along the Atlantic coast. In this charming former fishing town, we have free time to enjoy the sea air. Finally, we pass through Estoril, long a favorite holiday destination of aristocrats and the wealthy, known for its casinos and luxury buildings, and complete our tour. Afterwards, we will take a panoramic city tour of Lisbon. Sites to be seen include Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries, Rossio and Praça do Comércio Squares, Avenida da Liberdade, Marquês de Pombal Square, and São Jorge Castle on the hill overlooking the city. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel and have free time. In the evening, for those who wish, our guide will optionally arrange the Fado Night Event (60 EUR), where, in Lisbon’s enchanting atmosphere and at a historic Fado house, we witness an unforgettable night that touches the heart of Portugal, accompanied by master Fado artists who express love, sorrow, and longing in their deepest form. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel. Accommodation is at our hotel.
Lisbon – Istanbul
After breakfast at our hotel, we check out of our rooms, enjoy our free time until the time specified by our guide, and take in the city. Then we transfer to the airport. After baggage, ticket, and customs procedures, we board a Turkish Airlines scheduled flight to Istanbul. Upon arrival, our tour and services come to an end.
