In the area where the city was founded in the 10th century, we start our walk with views of the Vltava River, after seeing the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul. First, we reach Prague Castle, which has hosted Bohemian kings, Holy Roman Emperors, and the presidents of Czechoslovakia. Continuing through the castle, we see the Old Royal Palace, the Presidential Palace, the seat of the Prague Archbishopric, and the city’s cathedral, St. Vitus Cathedral, whose construction began in 1344 and took six hundred years to complete, hosting the coronation ceremonies of many kings and queens. The Alley of Alchemists, St. George’s Church, the Malá Strana (Lesser Town) district, Charles Bridge, built in the 13th century by Master Builder Peter Parler and adorned with 30 statues of saints, Johannes Kepler’s House in the Old Town district, and the historic Astronomical Clock Tower, where shows featuring the 12 Apostles are performed, are among the other places we will see during our tour. Prague - Brno - Kraków
After having our breakfast at the hotel, we leave this beautiful historic city and head to Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic and one of the most important destinations in the Moravian region. At the entrance to this young yet historically rich city, known for its historic castles, cultural dynamism, and modern universities, we see Špilberk Castle, which was built in the 1200s as a protective fortress for the Moravian region and later turned into a military fortress during the 17th and 18th centuries under the Habsburg Empire, earning fame as “Austria’s toughest prison.” We stop here to photograph this magnificent castle and receive information from our guide about its history, especially because it was used to hold political prisoners after the revolutions of 1848, and in the 20th century it served military purposes both during the Nazi occupation and under the Czechoslovak army. After seeing this structure, which was founded on Gothic bases and later developed with Baroque and Renaissance influences, we continue to St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, which stands in the historic center of the city and would be the landmark chosen if Brno were to be represented as a postcard. Following the guide’s commentary, we then enjoy free time on the street of the famous square, Náměstí Svobody, considered the heart of Brno and lined with cafés, shops, and souvenir stores. After completing our sightseeing stop in Brno, we follow the route to Katowice, the capital of the Silesia region in southern Poland, a renewed metropolis that combines its industrial heritage with culture, music, and modern architecture, and then continue to Kraków, one of the country’s oldest capitals and the country’s most touristic and romantic city, with its medieval texture, royal heritage, and lively city life. Upon arrival, we get to know the city while listening to our guide’s explanations. We visit the city’s historic main square and trade center, the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), and then enjoy free time for dinner on Floriańska Street. After meeting again, we check in to our hotel. Overnight in our hotel in Kraków. 19 July: 4* Hotel Swing
Krakow – Auschwitz - Warsaw
After having breakfast at our hotel, we check out of our rooms and begin exploring Krakow. First, we visit Wawel Castle, which greets us upon entering the city and is set on a unique scenic spot along the banks of the Vistula River. Considered a symbol of the nation, this castle was the residence of the former Polish kings and is one of the most important architectural complexes in Central Europe. We take a photo break around the castle and its surroundings. Then, following Kanonicza Street along our walking route through old stone streets and buildings that are examples of medieval architecture, we proceed toward the city center. In Rynek Główny (the Main Square), the largest medieval square in Europe, we see St. Mary’s Basilica. Built in place of the church destroyed during the Mongol invasion in the 13th century, it became one of the most important places of worship for the people. With two unequal towers, the taller one was used for lookout and defense purposes, while the other is covered with a Renaissance-style dome. To commemorate a watchman who was struck and left his duty unfinished during the Mongol attack, the Hejnal Mariacki melody is played every hour from the high tower and is cut off halfway. If we are fortunate, we may witness this during our visit, and we are given free time near the main square. After regrouping, we set our course toward Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the saddest witnesses to human history, located very close by. This camp, established by Nazi Germany during World War II, was the largest concentration and extermination camp in history. In this area, where more than 1 million people lost their lives between 1940 and 1945, it is now regarded as a center of remembrance and memory. We tour this camp, where Jews first and foremost, as well as Roma, Poles, prisoners of war, and dissidents were held and systematically murdered, while listening to our guide’s explanations. After visiting the “Arbeit macht frei” gate, barracks, prisoners’ quarters, crematorium remains, gas chambers, and memorial areas with our guide at this place of conscience, we then head to Warsaw, the capital of Poland, which was almost completely destroyed during World War II and later rebuilt. Upon arriving in this city, nestled among the bends of the Vistula, we are given a short period of free time for dinner on Nowy Świat Street, accompanied by our guide’s information. After regrouping, we settle into our hotel. Overnight at our hotel in Warsaw. 20 July Accommodation: Novotel Warszawa Centrum or similar
Warsaw - Izmir
After breakfast at our hotel, we begin our walking tour to discover Warsaw, the capital and largest city of Poland, which was almost reborn from its ashes after World War II. Despite having experienced one of the most difficult periods in European history, this dynamic metropolis today stands out with its modern architecture and historical texture; our first stop is Castle Square, considered the heart of the Old Town district. Here, we see Royal Castle-Warsaw, once the official residence of the Polish kings and rebuilt faithfully after being completely destroyed in the war. After photographing this magnificent structure, which reflects elegant examples of Baroque and Neoclassical architecture, from the outside, we receive information from our guide about the history of the Polish monarchy and the reconstruction process of the castle. Continuing from Castle Square, we walk through the streets of Warsaw Old Town, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. As we move among colorful facades, cobblestone narrow streets, and historic squares, we witness Warsaw’s story stretching from the Middle Ages to the present day. During our short break at the Old Town Square, we have the opportunity to take photos and explore the surroundings. After our tour in the historic district, we head to the city center to get to know modern Warsaw more closely. We see the Palace of Culture and Science, one of the most important architectural symbols of the Soviet era and a landmark on the city’s skyline, from a panoramic perspective, and listen to our guide’s explanations about the role of this massive structure in Warsaw’s cultural and artistic life. In the continuation of our tour, we stop for lunch and free time around Nowy Świat, one of the city’s most prestigious shopping and strolling streets. During this time, our guests can taste local flavors of Polish cuisine, spend time in cafés, and shop. After the free time, we go to Łazienki Park, one of the most elegant and peaceful spots in Warsaw. In this vast green area, also known as the Royal Baths, we see the Palace on the Isle, historic pavilions, ponds, and the world-famous monument to composer Chopin. After a walking break in this unique setting where nature and history intertwine, we complete our Warsaw tour. At the end of our trip, we transfer to the airport at the time determined by our guide and complete the procedures at the airport for our return flight, ending our unforgettable journey in Poland. We fly with SunExpress Airlines. As the clock passes midnight and the calendar shows the date of the next day, we arrive in Izmir and bid farewell until we meet again on our next travel program.
