After breakfast at our hotel, we set out to carry out our Esztergom & Visegrád & Szentendre tour. Our first stop is Esztergom Castle, which holds special importance for both Hungarian and Ottoman history and is the “guardian” of the Danube. We visit Esztergom Castle, which was captured in 1543 by the Ottoman army under the command of Suleiman the Magnificent, and the Esztergom Basilica built on its site, the largest church in Hungary. After our visit, we continue along a route accompanied by the most beautiful views of the Danube River, passing by Visegrád Castle, which was built to stop armies advancing from the east. We go to Szentendre Artists’ Village, where we will have the opportunity to buy all kinds of Hungarian souvenirs at affordable prices, and after receiving information about the village, we are given free time for shopping. Budapest - Baden - Seegrotte - Vienna
After breakfast at our hotel, we depart from Budapest and set off for Vienna, the most aristocratic city in Europe and the center of a vast empire that witnessed the 640-year rule of the Habsburg Dynasty, with short breaks along the way and an enjoyable journey. On our route, we visit Baden, one of Austria’s most distinctive towns and a city of spas and nature, where Beethoven composed his 9th Symphony. After completing our tour of the city and enjoying some free time, we head to the Vienna Woods, which begin 21 km south of Vienna, and see the 12th-century Lichtenstein Castle from a panoramic viewpoint. Through a pleasant journey among the villages of Vienna’s lush nature, offering us a fairy-tale-like view, we go to Seegrotte, one of the most interesting parts of our tour and the largest underground lake in Europe, where we visit the cave and take a boat ride on the underground lake. Seegrotte was established in the mid-18th century for limestone extraction, but after an explosion in 1912 it was decided to close it. Although it was later revived by a private company, its true significance came during World War II, when it was purchased by the Heinkel firm belonging to the German army and turned into an underground aircraft factory by draining its waters. Used in the production of the front fuselages of warplanes called Salamander 162, Seegrotte was blown up in 1945 and became unusable. After being restored in the dark war years, it was made usable again and brought to its current form, where it can now be explored by boat. After experiencing Seegrotte and listening to our guide’s explanations, we proceed to Vienna, the city that is the heart of music, architecture, painting, and sculpture; a city that, even during the difficult days of the World Wars, did not lose any of its elegance and offered a unique synthesis of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Classical, and Art Nouveau art movements, with its long boulevards making it almost an open-air museum. Upon arrival in the city, we conduct a short briefing and orientation tour, then give free time. After the free time, we check in to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel in Vienna.
Vienna - Izmir
After having breakfast at our hotel, we check out of our rooms and begin exploring Vienna on this final day. Among the places we will see are the Academy of Applied Arts, where Austria’s world-renowned painter Gustav Klimt studied and taught; the Kursalon concert hall; the Bristol Hotel, where Atatürk also stayed; the State Opera House; Maria Theresia Square; the Art History Museum; the Natural History Museum; the Parliament; the City Hall (Rathaus); the magnificent buildings of the University of Vienna; and the Hofburg Palace. After completing our tour, we begin our visit to Schönbrunn Palace, the Hundertwasser Houses, and the Vienna Woods. First, accompanied by explanations, we take a panoramic tour of Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens, whose construction was begun by Emperor Leopold at the end of the 17th century, which served as the summer palace of the Habsburg dynasty, and which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996. Following our program here, we visit the Hundertwasser Art Houses, one of the city’s striking contemporary artistic landmarks with their asymmetrical architectural elements, and then enjoy free time for shopping and lunch on Mariahilferstrasse, Vienna’s famous shopping street. Afterwards, we travel by our vehicle to Vienna Airport for our return journey. We complete passport procedures and take our scheduled Sun Express Airlines flight. We arrive in Izmir after midnight, on the following day’s date, and bid farewell until we meet again on our next tour program.
