Tour Program
Izmir - Venice - Padua
At the appointed meeting time at noon, we will meet with you, our esteemed guests, at the International Terminal of İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport and complete our baggage, passport, and check-in procedures. We will then take our flight with SunExpress Airlines to Venice, the city of canals rather than roads and of water rather than stone. Upon arrival at local time, we will head to Padua, a city that has shaped European history through science, art, and faith, leaving deep traces while remaining a quiet city in its own right. In this city, which is very close to Venice, we will conduct our orientation tour and then provide free time for dinner. After a pleasant evening, we will check in to our hotel.
Bologna - Florence
After having breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we check out of our rooms and set off to visit Bologna, also known as the Red City, and likewise referred to by the nicknames “La Dotta, La Grassa, La Rossa” — meaning the Learned, the Fat, and the Red. Among the places we can see are Piazza Maggiore, the Asinelli and Garisenda Towers, which survived after earthquakes from among 200 towers, the Neptune Fountain, which has become the city’s symbol, the Basilica of San Petronio, the Basilica of Santo Stefano, Palazzo del Podestà, which serves as the city hall, and Bologna University, founded in 1088 and considered the oldest university in Europe. Following our guide’s explanations here, we allow free time for shopping and coffee. In the continuation of our program, we head to Florence, the capital of the Tuscany Region, which is accepted not merely as a stopover but as the birthplace of the Renaissance and is almost like an open-air museum. Upon arrival, we begin our Florence tour. We see the Florence Cathedral, famous for its dome and considered one of the first important architectural works of the Renaissance, built between 1296 and 1436; we photograph, accompanied by our guide’s explanations, the Basilica of Santa Croce, the largest National Library of Italy, and the most important church of the Franciscan order, also known as the “Temple of Italian Celebrities” because it houses the tombs of famous Italians such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Dante, Machiavelli, Foscolo, Gentile, Rossini, and Marconi. From there, we reach the Piazza della Signoria, which looks like an open-air museum thanks to the many statues adorning its surroundings. After seeing breathtaking works of art there, including the bronze Perseus statue by Benvenuto Cellini, we proceed to the Old Bridge and to Republic Square, known for its street artists and famous cafés, where we give free time for strolling and shopping, and we settle into our hotel in this city, where every corner bears the signature of a master.
Orvieto - Nemi & Castel Gandolfo - Castel Romano Designer Outlet - Rome
After breakfast at our hotel in Florence, we head to Orvieto, our small yet extremely impressive stop in the Umbria Region, built on a tuff cliff and with its layered historical periods ranging from the Etruscans to the Medieval Papacy, which we can describe as a medieval miracle perched above a precipice. To reach the Orvieto Cathedral (Duomo di Orvieto), whose construction began in 1290 and whose facade features colorful mosaics and sculptures, and whose interior contains Luca Signorelli’s frescoes on the theme of the Last Judgment, we ascend to Orvieto by funicular along a route surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and lush green landscapes. After listening to our guide’s explanations here and enjoying free time, we return the same way and set off toward the south of Rome. In the Alban Hills, we arrive in Nemi, a town clinging to the shores of volcanic Lake Nemi, with narrow streets, the scent of wild strawberries, and nostalgic terraces. We begin our walking tour accompanied by the natural beauty and lake views of the Alban Crater. After some pleasant, peaceful, and postcard-like time to relax, we give free time for our guests who wish to taste the wild strawberry tarts. At the end of the free time, we head to see Castel Gandolfo, regarded as the official town and accepted as the “balcony of the lake.” After a photo stop by the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo, which was used for centuries as the summer residence of the popes, we continue to Designer Outlet Castel Romano, an outlet village where famous brands offer attractive discounts. Guests who wish may take advantage of shopping and discount opportunities, while others may enjoy food and coffee. After this enjoyable time, we return to our hotel to rest for the next day’s Vatican and full-day Rome tour.
Full Rome and Vatican
After breakfast at our hotel, we head to Vatican City, one of the world’s smallest independent states, with an area of 44 hectares. In the spiritual center of the Catholic faith, we listen to our guide’s explanations and, for those who wish, visit St. Peter’s Basilica. After our Vatican tour, we go to see the Colosseum, one of the symbols of Rome, one of the oldest cities in the world. The Colosseum has served throughout history not only as a venue for gladiator fights, but also for many public spectacles, mock naval battles, animal hunts, executions, reenactments of famous wars, and dramas based on classical mythology. After touring this most famous arena of the ancient world, we follow the Roman Palace and arrive at Palazzo di Venezia along our route. Following a short photo stop, we visit the Pantheon, which was built in Ancient Rome as a temple for all gods, was used as a church after the 7th century, and contains the tombs of important figures in Italian history, including Vittorio Emanuele II. We continue our tour by seeing Piazza Navona, which also contains the remains of the ancient Domitian Stadium and is famous for the Fountain of the Four Rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi) at its center; then we proceed to the Trevi Fountain, one of the most famous fountains in the world, also known as the Fountain of Love. After our lunch break here, we meet again and walk toward the Spanish Steps, which have existed since the 17th century and take their name from the Spanish Embassy; we then provide free time in the area with famous brand stores and cafés. At the end of our Rome tour, we return to our hotel.
Rome - Siena - San Gimignano - Pisa
On this, our last day in Rome, we have breakfast at our hotel and, after checking out of our rooms, set off to visit Siena, which is included on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. After short photo stops along the way, we arrive in Siena, where the historical traces of the Middle Ages are still preserved in its structure, and begin our tour. We start our visit in this city, famous for the horse races known as the Palio, traditionally held every year around Piazza del Campo. We continue our walking tour by seeing Siena Cathedral, one of the most impressive churches in Italy. We complete our tour in Piazza del Campo, one of the largest medieval squares in Europe, where the City Hall and the Mangia Tower, with a height of 102 meters and the second tallest tower in Italy, are located, and then we are given free time. After our break, we head to San Gimignano, a medieval town known for its stone towers rising on the Tuscan hills, where time seems to have almost stood still. After a short journey, we begin touring this UNESCO World Heritage Site, once famous for its more than 70 towers that symbolized the power of wealthy families. At Piazza della Cisterna, regarded as the heart of the town, we complete our walking tour among stone arches and narrow streets, and then continue on to Pisa, where the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located. With its fame, the tower overshadows even the city it stands in and the church to which it belongs; we see the Pisa Cathedral, the Monumental Cemetery of Campo Santo, the Baptistery of St. John, and the Square of Miracles with explanations from our guide, and then we are given free time. After free time, during which we can take beautiful photos and buy souvenir gifts, we meet again and check into our hotel.
Pisa - La Spezia - Cinque Terre - Rapallo - Portofino - Santa Margherita - Milan
After having breakfast at our hotel in Pisa, we head to one of Italy’s most photogenic regions: the Cinque Terre area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site made up of colorful villages clinging to the Ligurian coast. We depart for La Spezia, considered the gateway to Cinque Terre. At the train station, where the breathtaking beauty of the Gulf of Poets awaits us, we take our seats on the train with our guide and set off for this natural spectacle. Our route of discovery begins in Riomaggiore, the most popular and impressive village, considered the gateway to the tour, and our first unforgettable stop, with its colorful houses stretching along a narrow valley, small harbor, and rugged cliffs. After arriving by train, we take a walking tour and complete our visit to Riomaggiore, with its vividly stacked houses and as the starting point of the Via dell’Amore (Lovers’ Lane). We then board the train again and continue to another famous village. After a short train ride, we arrive in Monterosso al Mare, a charming town distinguished by the giant Neptune statue carved into the cliff and, unlike the other villages, a more horizontal layout; we begin our tour among its seaside promenade, chapels, churches, squares, and famous beaches. After free time in this town, renowned for its seafood and especially its lemon desserts, we board the train once more and continue our journey to Rapallo, the harbor town from which we will take a boat to Portofino. Upon arrival, we take a pleasant and short boat ride to Portofino, Italy’s and Europe’s iconic little port town, with its colorful houses surrounding a small harbor and inspiring the unforgettable 1960s song that also bears its name. In this fishing village, after learning about the Church of San Martino, built in Romanesque style and located in the center, and the Castello Brown, which we can photograph from a distance, we are given free time following the guide’s commentary. We then return by boat to Santa Margherita, where, together with our guide, we enjoy a pleasant afternoon break in this Ligurian Riviera seaside town, with its pastel-colored houses, palm-lined promenade, and beauty that rivals Portofino. After this enjoyable time, we arrive in Milan, Italy’s second-largest city after Rome, and check into our hotel.
Milan - Verona - Padua
After having breakfast at our hotel, we begin our walking tour in the city of Milan, known as the country’s fashion capital and also as a center of art and lyrical opera, by seeing the Sforza Castle, which was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan. We visit La Scala Theatre, one of the world’s largest and most renowned opera houses, where Verdi staged his final opera; the Monument and Museum of Leonardo da Vinci, who lived in Milan for 17 years; and the Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery, one of the oldest shopping arcades in the world and home to famous fashion boutiques. We complete our walking tour by seeing the Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano), the fourth largest cathedral in Europe, in Piazza del Duomo, the city’s most central square. Afterwards, we head to Verona, located in the Veneto Region, a city that has become a symbol among Italy’s romantic cities and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the city of Shakespeare’s legendary lovers Romeo and Juliet, Verona will enchant you with its romantic atmosphere. On our walking tour here, among the places we will see are the Verona Arena (Arena di Verona), the world’s third-largest arena and a venue where theater performances were held in the past; Juliet’s House (Casa di Giulietta), where Romeo and Juliet are believed to have once lived, with its famous balcony that is a popular spot for souvenir photos; Castelvecchio; Verona Cathedral, built in the Gothic style in the 15th century; Teatro Romano, uncovered through archaeological excavations carried out between 1904 and 1930 and now hosting the Verona Jazz Festival; Ponte Pietra; and the Basilica of San Zeno. We then enjoy free time on the street connecting Piazza delle Erbe and Bra Square (Via Mazzini – Piazza Bra), where you may encounter traditional Italian street musicians and browse the shops lining the street. Afterwards, we board our waiting vehicle and, after a short journey of approximately one hour, travel to Padua and check into our hotel.
Padua - Full Day Venice - Izmir
After having breakfast at our hotel, we set off for Venice, the capital of the Republic of Venice, which was one of the most important powers at sea throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and the center of art and trade from the 13th century until the end of the 17th century, where we can enjoy sightseeing until our evening flight. Upon arrival, we board a vaporetto for our transfer in Venice and begin our tour of this unique city, built around 45 canals connected to the Grand Canal. During our tour, we see the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument, named after the founder of the Kingdom of Italy; the Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri), said to have taken its name from the sighs of prisoners led to prison as they caught one last glimpse of Venice; the Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the political center of the Republic of Venice; and the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, one of the largest libraries in Italy, before reaching St. Mark’s Square, the symbol of Venice. After also seeing St. Mark’s Basilica, one of the best-known examples of Byzantine architecture and called the “Golden Church” because of its rich Byzantine mosaics, we complete our tour. For guests who wish, we offer free time in the center for shopping and dinner after an optional gondola ride. At the end of the free time, we head to Marco Polo Venice Airport to bid farewell to Venice and Italy. After completing the necessary customs and passport procedures, we take our seats on our SunExpress Airlines flight bound for Izmir and complete our journey. We arrive at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport local time and say goodbye until we meet again on another travel program.
