Tour Program
Izmir - Frankfurt - Rüdesheim am Rhein - Heidelberg - Strasbourg
We meet our guide at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport at the specified time in the morning. After passport control and baggage drop-off, we depart non-stop for Frankfurt on SunExpress Airlines. After a pleasant flight of approximately 3 hours, we arrive at Frankfurt Airport local time. After completing our luggage procedures, we meet our waiting vehicle. After a short journey, we arrive in Rüdesheim am Rhein, a German town located within the Rhine Valley and the center of the wine industry. The streets, timber-framed houses, and old inns of the town reflect the fabric of the Middle Ages. On our walking tour, we will see the Rüdesheimer Weihnachtsmarkt der Nationen (Christmas Markets Square), timber-framed houses, Brömserhof Museum, Siegfried's Mechanisches Musikkabinett (Mechanical Instrument Museum), and the narrow streets of Drosselgasse Street, which have inspired songs. We continue our tour by reaching the cable car station and starting our Cable Car Sightseeing Tour (included in the price). On this tour over the lush vineyards, you will admire the magnificent views of Rüdesheim’s old town and the Rhine River. We enjoy the magnificent scenery from the viewing terrace and, with our guide’s explanations, see the Niederwalddenkmal (Niederwald Monument), erected in memory of the victory over France in the late 1870s and the newly established union. After photo breaks and free time, we return to town by cable car with our guide’s directions and are given free time in the city center. During your free time, you can taste flavors from Rüdesheim’s vineyards, take a walk through the narrow streets of Drosselgasse, enjoy dessert at Drosselhof Stübchen, and try Rüdesheimer Kaffee, the region’s traditional coffee served in a special glass with freshly whipped cream and chocolate pieces (made with sugar and Asbach). When our free time in Rüdesheim ends, we take our seats on the bus and arrive in the picturesque city of Heidelberg, divided into two by the Neckar River. In this enchanting city, famous for its university founded in 1386 and also known as the “Capital of the Romantic Road,” we begin our tour. First, we view Heidelberg Castle from the outside and visit important structures such as the historic Old Bridge and Jesuitenkirche (Jesuit Church) with our guide’s explanations. Then we take a walk along the famous Hauptstrasse Street, 1.5 kilometers long, which is considered the heart of the city. During free time, you can explore the structures along the street that have remained intact since the Middle Ages, shop, and spend pleasant time in cafes and restaurants. After meeting again at the time set by our guide, we leave Germany behind while continuing through the endless Black Forest (Schwarzwald) and cross into France. Our next stop is Strasbourg, a city famous for its historical and cultural richness in Europe. At the end of a delightful day, upon our arrival in the city, we proceed to our hotel in Strasbourg, where we will stay for 2 nights.
Haut Koenigsbourg Castle - Mont Saint Odile Monastery - Strasbourg
After our hotel breakfast, we head to visit Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle, which stands majestically like an eagle’s nest at the center of the Alsace Wine Route and at an altitude of 757 meters. Built in the 12th century by the Hohenstaufen family, the castle has changed hands many times and has undergone restorations each time. With its pinkish-sandy appearance preserved to this day, the castle welcomes approximately 500,000 visitors a year and has earned the title of the fourth most visited historic monument in France. After listening to our guide’s commentary as we explore this enchanting castle, which seems as if it has come straight out of a fairy tale, we continue on to Mont Sainte-Odile, which draws attention with its mysterious past and architectural features. Named after Saint Odile, this structure is located at the summit of the Vosges Mountains, at an altitude of 764 meters. Once considered the religious symbol of Alsace, it is now used as a hotel. While visiting the site, which will captivate us with its Baroque architecture as if it had come out of a storybook, we will be able to see chapels, rooms from the period when it was used as a monastery, a fountain, stained-glass windows depicting the saint’s life, and places for the Stations of the Cross. After our short break here, we meet our guide again and then head to Strasbourg, the city regarded as the center of the European Parliament. Strasbourg Cathedral, at 142 meters high, is the sixth tallest church in the world. This Gothic cathedral is the city’s most iconic building. We begin our visit to Notre Dame Strasbourg Cathedral, which attracts visitors with its magnificent stained-glass windows, astronomical clock, and tower offering breathtaking views, accompanied by our guide’s explanations. We continue our tour by seeing iconic landmarks such as the Rohan Palace, the Covered Bridge, and the Tanners’ Quarter, and then continue our exploration of the city with the Petite France district. We complete our visit by touring this area, famous for its half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, and picturesque canals, where we can take unforgettable photos, and then we are given free time for shopping and dinner. We meet at the time specified by our guide and return to our hotel.
Strasbourg - Riquewihr - Eguisheim - Colmar - Basel - Mulhouse
After breakfast at our hotel, we head to Riquewihr, a beautiful medieval town that offers visitors an unforgettable experience with its historical and cultural richness, natural beauty, and delicious cuisine. After seeing the Dolder Tower, we will have free time in Riquewihr, the birthplace of the world-famous Riesling grape vineyards, so you can enjoy tastings and buy small souvenirs. After exploring this lovely village, we move on to another medieval town located very close by, Equisheim. With its architectural style, cobblestone streets, colorful half-timbered houses, and flower-adorned windows, the village gives the classic impression of an Alsace town and welcomes us with its unspoiled historical character and warm atmosphere. We continue our tour starting from St. Leon Square. St. Leon Chapel, as well as the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, are among the places we will see. After the free time we will have here, we head to Colmar, a charming medieval town known as the capital of the Alsace vineyards. We enter the city with a panoramic view of the Statue of Liberty, which has a replica here because Bartholdi, the designer of the famous Statue of Liberty in America, was born in Colmar. As we take our walking tour among the colorful wooden houses, canals, and cobblestone streets, places we will see with our guide’s explanations include the House of Heads (La Maison des Tetes), Pfister House (Maison Pfister), Unterlinden Museum, Bartholdi Museum, and the Dominican Church. Afterwards, we turn toward the city’s most famous area, Petite Venice, also known as Little Venice. In this fairy-tale town, where you can take walks among the colorful houses along canals that are narrower and shorter than those in Venice, we give you free time to enjoy taking beautiful photos. Then, we head to Basel, the cultural capital of Switzerland, and begin our tour. Places we will see include Marktplatz, Basel Münster (Cathedral), and Basel Rathaus (City Hall), which is easily distinguished from the other buildings by its bright red color. At the end of our tour, after the free time we will give, we reunite with our guide, cross back into France, and head to our hotel in Mulhouse, a historical region on the Alsace Wine Route, founded in the 12th century, long under German rule and later incorporated into France, where we will stay overnight.
Rene Waterfall - Zurich - Izmir
After breakfast at our hotel, we head to the Rhine Falls, located in the canton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, the largest waterfall in Europe with a width of 150 meters and a height of 23 meters. After listening to our guide’s explanation of how the waterfall was formed, those who wish may join the Rhine River boat tour (extra). (The Rhine River boat tour will operate depending on weather conditions at the time of the visit; due to high water levels caused by rainfall in the region, boat departures may be suspended. This will be determined during the visit to the waterfall, and participation can be decided during the tour.) After our enjoyable boat tour, we get back on our vehicle and travel to Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city. We begin our panoramic tour by seeing the historic main train station, famous for its shops, restaurants, and cafés. After viewing the Grossmünster Church, one of the city’s most impressive landmarks and Zurich’s symbol, completed in the 16th century, the Kunsthaus (Art House), designed by Karl Moser and Robert Curjel and opened in 1910, and the historic Opera and Ballet House, which hosts international stars, we complete our tour. We then head to the Old Town area for free time. With unforgettable views along the river and lake, after seeing the small shops and stores in its historic streets, those who wish may, with our guide’s recommendations, go to the Grand Café Odeon located in the famous Bellevue Square, which has hosted world-renowned names such as Lenin, Trotsky, Goethe, Einstein, and Wagner since 1911, and enjoy coffee, meals, or pastries there. After meeting again at the time specified by our guide, we head to Zurich Airport to board our flight that will take us to Izmir. We complete our customs and baggage procedures for the SunExpress Airlines flight and take our seats on the plane to begin our return journey. After midnight, we arrive local time and, after a pleasant tour, bid farewell until we meet again on another wonderful travel program.
