Evening Activity Suggestion in Lisbon: A Fado Night That Captures the Soul of Portugal

In Lisbon's authentic atmosphere, during special evenings held in traditional Fado houses; Fado artists who turn sorrow, love, and longing into notes will enchant you with melodies that touch the heart of Portugal.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT

This tour is organized with a minimum participation requirement of 40 people.  If sufficient participation is not achieved, the final cancellation notification date is 20 days prior to the tour start. Tours cancelled due to insufficient participation will be notified to you through your agency.

HEALTH

There are no mandatory vaccinations for entry into Portugal. We do not expect any health-threatening issues with meals taken at good restaurants and hotels in the region. However, we advise you to be careful regarding food and drink when you are not with the group, to definitely consume bottled water, to avoid ice, milk, and dairy products, to consume meat and fish products that you are sure are well-cooked, and to recommend eating fruits like bananas and pineapples that can be peeled.

OPTIONAL TOURS & ACTIVITIES

Optional tours and activities are organized by the local agency providing our services with a minimum participation requirement of 20 people and are not mandatory. If the required number is not met, tours may not take place, or optional tour/activity prices, content, and vehicles used may vary according to the number of participants. Additionally, the days and times of optional tours/activities may be changed by the guide depending on whether museums, historical sites, or venues in the destinations are open/closed and weather conditions.

ACCOMMODATION

During periods such as fairs, congresses, concerts, events, sports tournaments, etc., hotels may be used at distances exceeding the specified kilometers. 

Triple rooms may be assigned based on hotel availability, and in these types of rooms, the bed provided for the 3rd person may be smaller than standard beds. Triple rooms consist of 1 large bed and 1 extra bed. Since extra beds are foldable or coach beds, participants (3rd person and/or children) are deemed to have accepted potential crowding in the room and the type of bed. 

Child discounts apply only to one (1) child staying with two adults and falling within the age group specified in the pricing section. 

Breakfasts included in the services provided in the tour program are served according to the breakfast culture of the country visited and generally as a limited menu known as continental breakfast consisting of butter, jam, bread, tea, or coffee, and may be served in a separate hall allocated for the group.

CURRENCY

The currency of Portugal is the Euro (EUR). It is advisable to carry Euro (EUR) with you.

TIME ZONE

Portugal is 4 hours behind Turkey in summer time and 3 hours behind in winter time. For example, while it is 18:30 in Turkey in summer, it is 14:30 in Portugal.

CLOTHING AND ESSENTIAL ITEMS

If traveling in summer season, we recommend bringing easily wearable t-shirts, short and long-sleeved shirts, cotton pants, shorts, comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket, and a thin sweater for the evenings. In addition, you may bring hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, earplugs against possible noise, cameras, video cameras, and their chargers and spare memory cards. In the winter season, we recommend clothing that allows you to move comfortably and keeps you warm.

FOOD CULTURE

Portuguese people have learned many flavors from indigenous Brazilians, Africans, and colonies in Europe and Asia, and have adapted these flavors to their own cuisine. Rice, potatoes, bread, meat, and seafood form the basis of the cuisine.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Having a valid passport and/or having obtained a visa (for destinations/passports where a visa is required) does not guarantee entry into the country. The passport police have the authority to deny you entry. The agency is not responsible for this situation; responsibility lies with the traveler.  

The agency acts as an intermediary between the passenger and the airline and is subject to the Hague Protocol of 28.09.1955. There may be risks of delays in scheduled and special flights, or times may change before the current tour and flight. The agency is obligated to notify these changes as soon as possible. Our passengers purchase the tour knowing and accepting that flight details may change. Children aged 0-2 do not pay airport taxes or airport service fees. 

Panoramic city tours included in the tour package are tours lasting a maximum of 2-3 hours organized for general introduction to cities and conducted panoramically with guide commentary inside the vehicle, excluding entrance to museums and historical sites. Panoramic tours, including other tours specified in the program, may not be carried out if local authorities do not permit visiting or entering them on the corresponding day and time, or due to closed roads caused by any event, or if weather conditions make it impossible to conduct the tour. In such cases, the agency is not responsible for the inability to carry out the aforementioned tours. Some tours may be conducted via public transport or on foot, depending on available opportunities, at points where roads are closed or vehicle access is not permitted.

Tour Program
Istanbul - Lisbon
After meeting our guide at the Istanbul Airport International Terminal, we proceed to the Turkish Airlines counter for baggage drop-off and ticket procedures. Following these formalities, we depart for Lisbon on a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight. Upon arrival, our panoramic city tour of Lisbon includes the Jerónimos Monastery, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, which bear witness to Portugal's maritime history; Rossio and Praça do Comércio, two of the city's most vibrant squares; Avenida da Liberdade (Freedom Avenue), renowned for its stylish shops and cafes; Marquês de Pombal Square; and São Jorge Castle, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel and check into our rooms. The remainder of the day is free for relaxation or exploring the surroundings. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Lisbon
After breakfast at our hotel, we set off for a tour of Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, and Cabo da Roca, offering breathtaking views where nature and history intertwine. Our first stop is the fairy-tale town of Sintra, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and once home to the summer palaces of the Portuguese royal family. With its colorful palaces, lush green hills, and historic charm, Sintra provides a magical atmosphere for a pleasant walk. Next, we reach Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe, known as "the place where the land ends and the sea begins." Here, we pause for photos against the stunning backdrop of the vast Atlantic Ocean. We then visit the charming coastal town of Cascais, famous for its elegant streets and lively promenade. As a former fishing village, this picturesque seaside town offers free time to enjoy the sea breeze. Finally, we pass through Estoril, long favored by aristocrats and the wealthy, renowned for its casinos and luxurious architecture, before concluding our day. After the tour, we transfer back to our hotel with free time remaining. Overnight stay at our hotel.
Lisbon - Porto
After enjoying breakfast at our hotel, we set off for Porto. Upon arrival in the city, we check into our hotel and have free time. Next, we depart for a tour of Guimarães, Braga, and Bom Jesus do Monte, located in northern Portugal and renowned for their historical character. Our first stop is Guimarães, known as the "birthplace of Portugal." In this historic city, where the country's first king, Afonso I Henriques, was born, we stroll through medieval stone streets to visit Guimarães Castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza. We then head to Braga, one of Portugal's most important religious centers. This city, noted for its rich religious heritage and magnificent architecture, offers us the opportunity to see Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga), the oldest cathedral in Portugal. After spending the day exploring these special cities where history, culture, and architecture intertwine, we return to our hotel. Overnight stay at our hotel.
Porto
After enjoying breakfast at our hotel, we begin an unforgettable day with the Aveiro & Obidos & Nazare & Batalha & Fatima tour, which showcases some of Portugal's most captivating historical and cultural landmarks. Our first stop is Aveiro, known as "Portugal's Venice" for its canals, colorful gondolas (moliceiros), and Art Nouveau architecture. Next, we head to the town of Obidos, where cobblestone streets, fortified walls, and white houses adorned with flowers evoke a medieval fairy tale. In this city, once gifted by the king to his queen as a wedding present, you will have the opportunity to taste the traditional cherry liqueur, Ginja. We then turn our route toward Nazaré, a traditional fishing village on the Atlantic coast, famous for its giant waves, endless ocean views, and rich cultural heritage. Following that, we visit the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, renowned for its enchanting stonework. The day's final destination is the holy city of Fátima, visited annually by millions of pilgrims; it is believed to be the site where the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in 1917 and gained fame through the miracle of "The Three Secrets of Fátima." After completing our tour, we return to our hotel for overnight accommodation.
Porto - Istanbul
After enjoying breakfast at our hotel, we will check out of our rooms and begin the day with a panoramic city tour. The sites we will visit include Porto Cathedral, Historic Wine Cellars, Liberdade Square, Batalha Square, Clerigos Tower, Ribeira District, Arrábida Bridge, Boa Vista, Dom Luís I Bridge, São Francisco Church, and the Stock Exchange Building, as well as São Bento Station. Following the city tour, we will transfer to the airport. After completing baggage handling, ticket procedures, and customs formalities, we will fly to Istanbul on a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight. Upon arrival, our tour and services will come to an end.
