Recommended Evening Activity in Lisbon: Fado Night That Lets You Feel the Spirit of Portugal

In Lisbon’s authentic atmosphere, at special evenings held in a traditional Fado house; Fado artists who put sorrow, love, and longing into notes will enchant you with melodies that touch the heart of Portugal.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT

This trip is organized with a minimum participation requirement of 40 people.  If sufficient participation is not achieved, the final cancellation notification date is 20 days before the tour start. The tour canceled due to insufficient participation will be notified to you through your agency.

HEALTH

There is no vaccination requirement upon entry to Portugal. We do not expect any health-threatening issues with meals to be taken at good restaurants and hotels in the region. However, when you are not with the group, we recommend being careful about food and drinks, definitely consuming bottled water, avoiding ice, milk and dairy products, eating meat and fish products that you are sure are well cooked, and for fruit choosing fruits that can be peeled, such as bananas and pineapples.

OPTIONAL TOURS & ACTIVITIES

Optional tours and activities are organized by the local agency we work with, with a minimum participation requirement of 20 people, and participation is not mandatory. If the required number is not reached, the trips cannot be carried out, or the prices, content, and vehicle to be used for the optional tour/activity may vary depending on the number of participants. In addition, the days and times of the optional tours/activities may be changed by the guide according to the opening/closing status of museums, ruins, or venues in the destinations to be visited and according to weather conditions.

ACCOMMODATION

During periods such as fairs, congresses, concerts, events, sports tournaments, etc., hotels may be used at distances greater than those stated in km. 

Triple rooms may be provided depending on hotel availability, and the bed offered to the 3rd person in such rooms may be smaller than standard beds. Triple rooms consist of 1 large bed and 1 additional bed. Since additional beds are foldable and called coach beds, participants making reservations for a 3rd person and/or child are deemed to have declared that they accept the possible congestion in the rooms and the bed type. 

Child discounts are valid for only one (1) child staying with 2 adults and matching the age group specified in the pricing section. 

Breakfasts received at the hotel among the services included in the tour program are served in accordance with the breakfast culture of the country visited, and generally with a limited menu known as continental breakfast, consisting of butter, jam, bread, tea or coffee, and may be served in a separate hall allocated to the group.

CURRENCY

The currency of Portugal is the Euro (EUR). It is advisable to have Euro (EUR) with you.

TIME ZONE

Portugal is 4 hours behind Turkey during daylight saving time and 3 hours behind during winter time. For example, when it is 18:30 in Turkey in summer, it is 14:30 in Portugal.

CLOTHING AND NECESSARY ITEMS

If you are traveling in the summer season, we recommend bringing t-shirts, short- and long-sleeved shirts that can be easily put on and taken off, cotton trousers, shorts, comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket for the evenings, and a light sweater.  In addition, you may also bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, earplugs against possible noise, a camera, video camera, and their chargers and spare memory cards. In the winter period, we recommend clothes that allow you to move comfortably and keep you warm.

CUISINE CULTURE

The Portuguese, who have learned many flavors from the native peoples of Brazil, Africa, and the colonies in Europe and Asia, have adapted these flavors to their own cuisine. Rice, potatoes, bread, meat, and seafood form the basis of the cuisine.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Having a valid passport and/or having obtained a visa (for the destination/passport requiring a visa) does not necessarily mean that entry into the country will be allowed. The passport police have the authority to refuse you entry into the country. The agency is not responsible for this situation; responsibility lies with the passenger.  

The agency is an intermediary institution between the airline and the passenger and is subject to the Hague Protocol dated 28.09.1955. There may be a risk of delay in scheduled and special flights, or the times before the current trip and flight may change. The agency is obliged to notify these changes as soon as possible. Our passengers have purchased the tour knowing and accepting that flight details may change. Children aged 0-2 do not pay airport taxes and airport service fees. 

The panoramic city tours included in the tour package are tours of up to 2-3 hours, organized for the general introduction of the cities and conducted panoramically with guide commentary from inside the vehicle, not including museum or archaeological site entries. The agency is not responsible if panoramic tours, including other tours specified in the program, cannot be carried out on the day and time of the tour because they are not permitted to be visited or entered by local authorities, or due to closed roads because of any event, and likewise in cases where weather conditions make the tour impossible. Some tours may be conducted by public transport or on foot where possible in areas with closed roads or places where vehicle access is not allowed.

Tour Program
Istanbul - Lisbon
We meet our guide at Istanbul Airport International Terminal and complete our baggage drop-off and ticketing procedures at the Turkish Airlines counter. After the formalities, we depart for Lisbon on a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight. Upon arrival, we will take a panoramic city tour of Lisbon, where we will see, among other highlights, Jeronimos Monastery, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, both bearing witness to Portugal’s maritime history; Rossio and Praca do Commercio, two of the city’s liveliest squares; Avenida da Liberdade (Liberty Avenue), famous for its stylish shops and cafés; Marquês de Pombal Square; and the historic São Jorge Castle, from which you can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the city. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel and check into our rooms. Afterwards, free time to rest or explore the surroundings. Overnight at our hotel.
Lisbon
After breakfast at our hotel, we set off for a tour of Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, and Cabo da Roca, offering unique landscapes intertwined with nature and history. Our first stop is the fairy-tale town of Sintra, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and was home to the Portuguese royal family’s summer palaces. We take a pleasant walk in Sintra, which has a fascinating atmosphere with its colorful palaces, lush green hills, and historic charm. Next, we arrive at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent, described as “where the land ends and the sea begins.” Here, we enjoy a photo break against a stunning view where you can admire the vast Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards, we visit Cascais, a charming seaside town on the Atlantic coast, known for its elegant streets and lively waterfront. In this lovely fishing town, we will have free time to enjoy the sea breeze. Finally, we complete our day by passing through Estoril, which for many years has been a favorite holiday resort of aristocrats and the wealthy, famous for its casinos and luxurious buildings. After the tour, transfer to our hotel and free time. Overnight at our hotel.
Lisbon - Porto
After breakfast at our hotel, we depart for Porto. Upon arrival in the city, we check into our hotel and have free time. We then set off for the Guimarães & Braga & Bom Jesus do Monte Tour, located in the north of Portugal and distinguished by its historical character. Our first stop is Guimarães, known as the “birthplace of Portugal.” In this historic city, also known as the birthplace of the country’s first king, Afonso Henriques, we walk through medieval stone streets and visit Guimarães Castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza. We then turn our route to Braga, one of the most important religious centers in the country. In this city, noted for its rich religious heritage and magnificent structures, we have the opportunity to see Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga), the oldest cathedral in Portugal. After exploring these special cities, where history, culture, and architecture blend together throughout the day, we return to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
Porto
After breakfast at our hotel, we begin an unforgettable day with the Aveiro & Óbidos & Nazaré & Batalha & Fátima Tour, covering some of Portugal’s most impressive historical and cultural highlights. Our first stop is Aveiro, known as “the Venice of Portugal” for its canals, colorful gondolas (moliceiros), and Art Nouveau architecture. We then continue to Óbidos, a medieval fairytale-like town with its cobblestone streets, fortified walls, and white houses adorned with flowers. In this town, which was given by the king to his queen as a wedding gift, you will also have the opportunity to taste the traditional cherry liqueur, “Ginja.” Afterward, we head to Nazaré, a traditional fishing village on the Atlantic coast, famous for its giant waves, endless ocean views, and cultural charm. We then visit Batalha Monastery, one of the masterpieces of Gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, notable for its magnificent stone craftsmanship. Our final stop of the day is Fátima, a sacred city visited by millions of pilgrims every year, where the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared to three shepherd children in 1917 and which became renowned for the miracle of the “Three Secrets of Fátima.” After completing our tour, we return to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
Porto - Istanbul
After breakfast at our hotel, we check out of our rooms and begin the day with a panoramic city tour. The places we will see include Porto Cathedral, the Historic Wine Cellars, Liberty Square, Batalha Square, Clérigos Tower, the Ribeira District, Arrábida Bridge, Boavista, Dom Luís I Bridge, St. Francis Church and the Stock Exchange Palace, and São Bento Train Station. After our city tour, we transfer to the airport. Following baggage, ticket, and customs procedures, we depart for Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines scheduled flight. Upon arrival, our tour and services come to an end.
