🎶 Evening Activity Suggestion in Lisbon: Fado Night That Lets You Feel the Soul of Portugal

In Lisbon’s authentic atmosphere, during special evenings held in a traditional Fado house; Fado artists who set sorrow, love, and longing to music will enchant you with melodies that touch the heart of Portugal.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT

This trip is organized with a minimum participation requirement of 40 people.  If sufficient participation is not achieved, the final cancellation notice date is 20 days before the tour start date. The tour cancelled due to insufficient participation will be notified to you through your agency.

HEALTH

There is no vaccination requirement for entry into Portugal. We do not think you will encounter any health-threatening problems with meals taken at the region’s good restaurants and hotels. However, when you are not with the group, we recommend that you be careful about food and drink, definitely consume bottled water, avoid ice, milk and dairy products, eat meat and fish products that you are sure are well cooked, and for fruit, choose fruits whose peel can be removed such as bananas and pineapples.

OPTIONAL TOURS & ACTIVITIES

Optional tours and activities are organized by the local agency we work with, with a minimum participation requirement of 20 people, and participation is not mandatory. If the required number is not reached, the excursions cannot be carried out or the prices, content, and vehicle used for the optional tour/activity may vary depending on the number of participants. In addition, the days and times of optional tours/activities may be changed by the guide according to the opening/closing status of museums, archaeological sites, or venues in the places to be visited, and according to weather conditions.

ACCOMMODATION

During periods such as fairs, congresses, concerts, events, sports tournaments, etc., hotels may be used farther than the distances specified. 

3-person rooms may be provided depending on hotel availability, and the bed offered to the 3rd person in such rooms may be smaller than standard beds. 3-person rooms consist of 1 large bed and 1 extra bed. Since extra beds are foldaway and coach beds, participants are deemed to have declared that they accept the possible cramped conditions in the rooms and the bed type in 3rd-person and/or child reservations. 

Child discounts are valid only for one (1) child staying with 2 adults and matching the age group specified in the pricing section. 

Breakfasts taken at the hotel among the services included in the tour program are served in accordance with the breakfast culture of the country visited and generally with a limited menu called continental breakfast, consisting of butter, jam, bread, tea, or coffee, and may be served for groups in a separate hall allocated to the group.

CURRENCY

The currency of Portugal is the Euro (EUR). It is advisable to have Euro (EUR) with you.

TIME ZONE

Portugal is 4 hours behind Turkey during daylight saving time and 3 hours behind during winter time. For example, when it is 18:30 in Turkey in summer, it is 14:30 in Portugal.

CLOTHING AND ESSENTIAL ITEMS

If you are going in the summer season, we recommend that you bring t-shirts that can be easily put on and taken off, short- and long-sleeved shirts, cotton trousers, shorts, comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket for the evenings, and a light sweater.  In addition, you may also bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, earplugs for possible noise, a camera, a video camera, and their chargers and spare memory cards. In the winter period, we recommend clothing that allows you to move comfortably and will keep you warm.

FOOD CULTURE

Having learned many flavors from their indigenous peoples in Brazil and Africa, as well as from their colonies in Europe and Asia, the Portuguese have adapted these flavors to their own cuisine. Rice, potatoes, bread, meat, and seafood form the basis of the cuisine.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Having a valid passport and/or having obtained a visa (for a destination/passport requiring a visa) does not necessarily mean that entry into the country will be granted. The passport police have the authority to deny you entry. The agency is not responsible for this situation; responsibility belongs to the passenger.  

The agency is an intermediary institution between the airline and the passenger and is subject to the Hague Protocol dated 28.09.1955. There may be a risk of delays on scheduled and special flights, or times may change before the current trip and flight. The agency is obliged to announce these changes as soon as possible. Our passengers have purchased the tour knowing and accepting that flight details may change. Children aged 0-2 do not pay airport tax and airport service fees. 

Panoramic city tours included in the tour package are tours organized for the general introduction of cities and carried out panoramically with commentary from the vehicle, lasting at most 2-3 hours and not including entrance fees to museums or historical sites. The agency is not responsible for the failure of panoramic tours, including other tours specified in the program, to take place on the day and time of the tour due to roads closed by local authorities, places that are not permitted to be visited or entered, or any activity, or when the tour becomes impossible due to weather conditions. Some tours may be carried out by public transport or on foot where possible at closed roads or points where vehicle entry is not allowed.

Tour Program
Istanbul - Porto
After meeting our guide at Istanbul Airport International Terminal, we complete our baggage check-in and ticket procedures at the Turkish Airlines counter. Following the formalities, we depart for Porto on a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight. Upon arrival, we will take part in a panoramic city tour of Porto, where we will see the Porto Cathedral, Historic Wine Cellars, Liberty Square, Batalha Square, Torre dos Clérigos, the Ribeira District, Arrábida Bridge, Boavista, Dom Luís Bridge, São Francisco Church, the Stock Exchange Palace, and São Bento Train Station. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel and check into our rooms. Afterwards, there will be free time to relax or explore the surroundings. Overnight at our hotel.
Porto
After having breakfast at our hotel, we depart for the Guimarães & Braga & Bom Jesus do Monte Tour, which takes us to the north of Portugal and stands out with its historical character. Our first stop is Guimarães, known as the “birthplace of Portugal.” In this historic city, known as the birthplace of the country’s first king, Afonso Henriques, we walk through medieval stone streets and visit Guimarães Castle and the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança. We then head to Braga, one of the country’s most important religious centers. In this city, which is notable for its rich religious heritage and magnificent structures, we have the opportunity to see Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga), the oldest cathedral in Portugal. After exploring these special cities where history, culture, and architecture intertwine throughout the day, we return to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
Porto - Lisbon
After breakfast at our hotel, we set off for Lisbon. Upon arrival in the city, we check into our hotel and have free time. Later, we depart for a tour of Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, and Cabo da Roca, offering unique views intertwined with nature and history. Our first stop is the fairy-tale town of Sintra, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and once hosted the summer palaces of the Portuguese royal family. In Sintra, with its colorful palaces, lush green hills, and historical atmosphere, we enjoy a pleasant walk. Then, we arrive at Cabo da Roca, known as the westernmost point of mainland Europe and described as "where the land ends and the sea begins." Here, we take a photo break against the impressive scenery where you can gaze out over the endless Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards, we visit the town of Cascais, located on the Atlantic coast and famous for its elegant streets and lively waterfront. In this charming seaside town, which has fishing roots, we will have free time by the sea. Finally, we complete our tour by passing through Estoril, long known as a favorite holiday resort of aristocrats and the wealthy, and renowned for its casinos and luxury buildings. Afterwards, we take our panoramic Lisbon city tour. Places to be seen include Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries, Rossio and Praça do Comércio Squares, Avenida da Liberdade, Marquês de Pombal Square, and São Jorge Castle on the hill overlooking the city. After the tour, we return to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
Lisbon
After breakfast at our hotel, we will have some free time. Afterwards, we will go on the Aveiro & Óbidos & Nazaré & Batalha & Fátima Tour, covering some of Portugal’s most impressive historical and cultural highlights. Our first stop is Aveiro, known as the “Venice of Portugal” for its canals, colorful moliceiro boats, and Art Nouveau architecture. Next, we head to the town of Óbidos, which feels like a medieval fairy tale with its cobbled streets, walled structure, and white houses decorated with flowers. In this city, which was given by the king to his queen as a wedding gift, you will also have the opportunity to taste the traditional cherry liqueur, “Ginja.” We then continue to Nazaré, a traditional fishing village on the Atlantic coast, famous for its giant waves, endless ocean views, and cultural character. After that, we visit Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its stunning stone craftsmanship. Our final stop of the day is Fátima, a sacred city visited by millions of pilgrims every year, famed for the apparition of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children in 1917 and the miracle of the “Three Secrets of Fátima.” After this meaningful visit, we complete the day and, upon arrival at our Lisbon hotel, we will rest. Overnight at our hotel.
Lisbon - Istanbul
After breakfast at our hotel, we check out of our rooms, enjoy free time until the time determined by our guide, and make the most of the city. Then we transfer to the airport. After baggage, ticket, and customs procedures, we fly to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines scheduled service. Upon our arrival, our tour and services come to an end.
