Tour Program
Istanbul – Beijing
We meet at Istanbul Airport International Departures Terminal and, after ticketing, baggage, and boarding procedures, depart for Beijing on a scheduled Turkish Airlines flight. Upon our late afternoon arrival in Beijing, we transfer to our hotel to rest. Overnight at our hotel.
Beijing
After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, we depart for the Lunch Included Great Wall & Summer Palace Tour. Our first stop is the Great Wall, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and began construction in 220 BC to prevent invasions from the northern nomads of Central Asia. After visiting the Great Wall, we will have lunch and then visit the magnificent Summer Palace, located on the shore of Kunming Lake. The Summer Palace is the best-preserved imperial garden and palace complex in China, located in the northwest of Beijing. Its history dates back to the Jin Dynasty in the 12th century, but its present form was shaped in the 18th century during the Qianlong Emperor’s reign in the Qing Dynasty. The emperor had it built to escape the crowded atmosphere of the main palace and relax in close contact with nature. The palace was damaged during the Second Opium War in 1860 and later restored by Cixi using funds allocated from the state navy budget. Although this is known as a controversial anecdote, the palace’s present elegance is the result of the detailed restorations carried out at that time. Afterwards, we will transfer to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
Beijing
After breakfast at the hotel tomorrow, we set out for the Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, and Forbidden City tour with lunch included. Our first stop on the tour will be Tiananmen Square. The Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, the monumental stele “Monument to the People’s Heroes” rising from the very center of Tiananmen Square, the “Great Hall of the People,” the parliament building of the People’s Republic of China, and the National Museum of China are among the places we will view from the outside in Tiananmen Square. Our next stop will be the vast palace complex “Forbidden City,” located north of Tiananmen Square. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was the heart and administrative center of the Chinese Empire for nearly 500 years. This palace, the largest and best-preserved ancient wooden structure complex in the world, takes its name “Forbidden City” from the fact that no one except the imperial family and high-ranking officials could enter without permission. Designed according to traditional Chinese cosmology and the philosophy of symmetry, the complex spans an area of 720,000 square meters and, according to legend, contains 9,999 rooms. The yellow roof tiles dominating the palace architecture symbolize imperial power, while the red walls symbolize luck and joy. After visiting this complex, we will tour the Temple of Heaven, located in the heart of a magnificent park nearly twice the size of the Forbidden City. The Temple of Heaven is the most sacred ritual center where Chinese emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties prayed to celestial powers for good harvests and abundance. Built in 1420 and designed according to traditional Chinese cosmology, the complex displays the perfect harmony of circular and angular forms, reflecting the belief that “the sky is round and the earth is square.” We will have lunch at a local restaurant during the tour. At the end of the tour, we will be transferred back to our hotel and have free time. Overnight at our hotel.
Pekin – Xi'an
After breakfast at our hotel, we will transfer to Xi’an by high-speed train. Upon arrival, we will be met by our private vehicle and begin our Lunch Included Big Wild Goose Pagoda & Sleepless Tang City Tour. During our tour, we head out to explore Xi’an’s historical and cultural landmarks. Our first stop is the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, one of the city’s most important symbols, rising within the Daci’en Temple complex and built as a seven-story brick structure to preserve the sacred scriptures and Buddha statues brought from India by the famous Buddhist monk Xuanzang during the Tang Dynasty. Here, we will see the pagoda’s monumental architecture, traditional temple structures, and peaceful gardens. After our visit, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Following lunch, we will head to Sleepless Tang City, which takes on a completely different atmosphere with its evening lights, reviving the glorious era of the Tang Dynasty through traditional architecture, red lanterns, statues, cultural performances, and modern entertainment areas. Extending south of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, this lively pedestrian zone offers colorful streets, artists strolling in Tang-period costumes, illuminated structures, and an impressive nighttime atmosphere that brings together Xi’an’s historical heritage and contemporary city life. After the tour, we will transfer to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
Xi'an
After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, we depart for the Terra Cotta Museum & Muslim Quarter Tour with lunch included. We will visit the “Underground Army” museum, known as the Terra Cotta Warriors, one of the most important archaeological excavations of the 20th century, built to protect the tomb of China’s first emperor, Shi Huang. Discovered accidentally by a farmer in 1974, this army is home to 8,000 “terra cotta,” or “baked earth,” soldiers, each with different facial expressions and postures. These statues were prepared as a “spirit army,” believed to protect the emperor after his death. During our visit, we will have the opportunity to see the emperor’s power and the level of craftsmanship of the period. After the tour, we return to Xi’an. Before transferring to our hotel, we will visit the Muslim Quarter, founded by Muslim merchants according to their own traditions and customs. With its lively bazaar, local shops, and restaurants, we observe cultural integration and separation. At the end of the tour, we transfer to our hotel to rest. Overnight at our hotel.
Xi'an – Shanghai
After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to Xi’an Airport and fly to Shanghai on a scheduled flight with the local airline. Upon arrival in Shanghai, we will transfer to our hotel and have free time for the rest of the day. Overnight at our hotel.
Shanghai
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for the Yu Garden & Jade Buddha Temple Tour with Lunch and Tea Ceremony. Our first stop on the tour is Yu Garden. A traditional Chinese garden dating back to the Ming Dynasty, Yu Garden reflects traditional Chinese architecture with its pond, stone bridges, and pavilions. After visiting Yu Garden, we will have the chance to take part in a Tea Ceremony, where we will delve deeper into Chinese culture. Then, we will visit the Jade Buddha Temple, located in the heart of Shanghai and considered one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in China. Built in 1882 to house two magnificent Buddhist statues brought from Myanmar, this temple features the most elegant details of classical Song Dynasty architecture. During our visit, we will have the opportunity to see the world-famous Sitting Buddha and Reclining Buddha statues, carved from a single piece of white jade and adorned with precious stones, symbolizing inner peace. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant during the tour. After the tour, transfer to the hotel and free time. Overnight at our hotel.
Shanghai – Istanbul
After breakfast at the hotel, we set off for our Shanghai tour. Our first stop will be the French Concession area, known for its narrow streets lined with plane trees and European-style villas. Here, we will explore the district that bears the city’s western influences. Next, we will visit Xintiandi, one of Shanghai’s most stylish attractions, where traditional “Shikumen” architecture comes to life with modern restaurants and galleries. We then continue our tour to Tianzifang, with its maze-like alleyways where art studios, boutiques, and hidden cafés are tucked away. Afterward, there will be free time on Nanjing Road, one of the world’s most famous shopping streets. After the free time, we meet at the time determined by our guide and transfer to Shanghai Airport. Following baggage, ticket, and customs procedures, we board our scheduled Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul. We will spend the night on the plane.
