Tour Program
Antalya - İzmir
We meet at Antalya Airport at the specified time in the evening. After check-in and baggage procedures, we depart for Izmir on our SunExpress Airlines flight. After approximately one hour of travel, we arrive at Adnan Menderes Airport and collect our luggage.
Izmir – Paris – Rouen – Honfleur – Le Havre
When the clocks show the next day, we meet in the morning at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal, complete our passport and baggage procedures, and take our nonstop flight on SunExpress Airlines to Paris. Upon arrival, we meet our waiting vehicle and head to Rouen, a city rich in historical and cultural heritage; the historical capital of Normandy and forever remembered as the place where Joan of Arc was tried and burned. In this historic city situated on the banks of the Seine River, the places we will see include Rouen Cathedral (Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Rouen), the Astronomical Clock (Gros Horloge), which has become the city’s symbol and dates back to the 14th century, Joan of Arc Square (Place du Vieux-Marché), known as the square where Joan of Arc was burned, and Saint-Ouen Abbey. After our guide’s explanations, we head to Honfleur, the charming and historic town located on the Normandy coast of France, where the Seine River flows into the English Channel. Before our photo stop at its most iconic spot, Vieux Bassin, the old harbor, we visit Saint Catherine’s Church (Église Sainte-Catherine), the largest wooden church in France, and listen to our guide’s relevant explanations. After our tour in this city, we give free time for dinner where you can taste the local flavors. After meeting again, we take a short journey to Le Havre, an important port city in northwestern France, located at the mouth of the Seine River in the Normandy region, known as the gateway to the Atlantic Ocean and for its modern architecture. Upon arrival, we check in to our hotel where we will be staying.
Le Havre – Arromanches Les Bains – Mont Saint Michel – Saint Malo
After breakfast at our hotel, we head to the center of Le Havre and begin our city tour. Founded in 1517 by Francis I, the city was initially built as a military port and trade center. Severely damaged during World War II and rebuilt after the war with a modern approach by the renowned architect Auguste Perret, the city has become an economic hub while also hosting France’s second-largest commercial port. After our visit to this city, we make our way to the town of Arromanches-les-Bains, known for its important role during the Normandy Landings in World War II and famous for its golden beach. During the Normandy Landings, Allied forces established a temporary artificial harbor called Mulberry Harbour on the coast of Arromanches. This harbor played a vital role in providing logistical support for the Allies. At Gold Beach, which played an important role in the D-Day landings and has become a historic memorial site, we listen to our guide’s explanations while viewing the structures erected in memory of the war. Then, we visit Mont-Saint-Michel, which was built on a rocky islet rising from the sea in the Normandy region, following the 8th-century dream of Bishop Aubert, who saw the Archangel Michael and received a message that he should build a monastery. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mont-Saint-Michel was built as a fortified defensive structure and is now one of the most popular destinations for tourists. For our visit to Mont-Saint-Michel, we board our local vehicles and enjoy the visit, during which we can capture unforgettable photos amidst breathtaking views. After our visit, we head to Saint-Malo, located on the Atlantic Ocean coast in Brittany, a town with a rich history, magnificent beaches, and medieval ramparts. Founded in the 6th century by a Welsh monk, Saint Maclou (or Malo), and named after him, this town became the center of French privateers in the 17th and 18th centuries and grew wealthy through acts of piracy against merchant ships. In this atmosphere steeped in history, with its narrow streets, stone houses, restaurants, and boutique shops, we enjoy free time at the direction of our guide before settling into our hotel.
Dinan – Rennes - Tours
After having breakfast at our hotel, we set off for a full day of activities. Our first stop is Dinan, a picturesque town on the banks of the Rance River, with its preserved historic fabric and magnificent medieval atmosphere; a dreamlike setting with narrow cobblestone streets, timber-framed houses, and well-preserved ramparts. Some of the places we will see here include the Basilique Saint-Sauveur, built in a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles, Dinan Castle (Château de Dinan), a part of the castle and city walls built in the 14th century, and the ramparts, which extend for 3 km and are one of Dinan’s most striking features. At the end of our visit here, we enjoy free time on the famous Rue du Jerzual, lined with artisan workshops, art galleries, and boutique shops. We then meet up again and head to Rennes, the administrative center of Brittany and the former capital of the duchy, where history and modern architecture coexist. After seeing the Parliament of Brittany (Parlement de Bretagne), now used as a courthouse, Saint-Pierre Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Pierre), and Place des Lices, the famous square at the historical heart of Rennes, and taking a break there, we set out for another historic city that will interest you: Tours, where we will stay for 2 nights. Tours, the center of the Loire Valley, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is famous for its rich history, cultural heritage, and wine production. Known for its proximity to many castles and châteaux and a focal point for travelers, we begin exploring the city upon arrival. The first sight to catch our attention will be Saint-Gatien Cathedral, one of the masterpieces of Gothic architecture, with its stained-glass windows and ornate façade. Another important religious structure we will encounter, dedicated to Saint Martin, is Martin de Tours. In this area, which will enchant us with places such as Vieux Tours and Place Plumereau, with their half-timbered houses, narrow streets, and historic buildings, we will have the opportunity to take photographs. After free time to enjoy local delicacies, including local cheese and wine, in the cafés and restaurants, we proceed to our hotel and check in for our 2-night stay.
Villandry Castle - Chenonceau
After breakfast at our hotel in Tours, we head to visit Villandry Castle (Château de Villandry), a French Renaissance masterpiece built in the 16th century and completed in the 17th century (Villandry Castle visit included in the price). With its rich and intricate gardens, waterways, and pond, we set off to witness a true visual feast, including the Love Garden (Le Jardin de l’Amour) and the section adorned with medieval plants and medicinal herbs. In particular, the symmetrical layout of its gardens and the geometric patterns used have been carefully preserved to this day, as they symbolize the prestige of the castle and the social status of its owner. At the end of our visit here, we bid farewell to this beautiful castle and continue to Chenonceau Castle (Château de Chenonceau), also known as the “Ladies’ Castle,” built over the Cher River in the Loire Valley (Chenonceau visit included in the price). Constructed in 1513 by Thomas Bohier and his wife Katherine Briçonnet, but built on the site of an earlier medieval fortress, this castle is considered a symbol of the strong influence of women. As you tour it, you will be fascinated by the elegance of the arches connecting both banks of the river and the harmony of its gardens. Two names and two periods played a role in the preservation of this castle and its gardens to the present day. The first is Diane de Poitiers, the mistress of King Henry II, who arranged Chenonceau’s gardens and added the castle’s famous bridge section. The second is Catherine de’ Medici, Henry II’s wife, who drove Diane away from the castle and made Chenonceau the residence of the Queen of France. During World War II, the castle served as the border separating the German-occupied zone from the free zone, and its architectural and artistic style is rooted in Renaissance architecture. The antique furniture and paintings inside are especially sure to catch your attention. After touring the castle and its gardens and completing our visit there, we set our route toward Amboise, one of the most elegant and magnificent towns in the Loire Valley. In this town, which greets us with a silhouette that resembles a painting on the banks of the Loire River and where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years, the panoramic tour will include sights such as the Royal Château of Amboise (Château Royal d’Amboise), located on the most commanding point of the valley and serving as the residence of French kings in the 15th and 16th centuries (seen from the outside). After viewing the château from the outside, during our free time in the center of Amboise, you can pass under the 15th-century Clock Tower (Tour de l’Horloge) and lose yourself in the narrow streets lined with boutiques and gourmet shops specific to the region, or take a break at cafés by the river and enjoy the peaceful scenery of the Loire Valley. After tasting local specialties in Amboise’s famous patisseries and capturing photographs of its medieval atmosphere, we gather again to return to our hotel in Tours, carrying the history-filled ambiance of the region in our minds, and arrive at our hotel after a short drive.
Chambord Castle – Orleans - Paris
After breakfast at our hotel, we check out of our rooms and take our seats on our vehicle to visit Château de Chambord, which began to be built in 1519 as a hunting lodge by King François I and whose construction continued throughout François’s reign, but took centuries to complete (Chambord Castle visit included in the tour price). Upon our arrival, we begin exploring Château de Chambord, with its dazzling structure, 440 rooms, 282 fireplaces, and 77 staircases, standing in all its grandeur. The first and most striking architectural feature to catch our eye will be the Double Helix Staircase. This staircase, believed to have been designed by Leonardo da Vinci, was built so that two people could go up and down without ever bumping into each other. This 5,440-hectare vast hunting ground and city-sized enclosed area is considered Europe’s largest enclosed park. During World War II, it was used as a refuge to protect France’s artworks. With its architectural marvel and historical significance, Château de Chambord is one of the most impressive destinations in the Loire Valley. At the end of our visit, which offers an unforgettable experience for those interested in Renaissance art and French history, we head to Orléans, a historic and culturally rich city on the banks of the Loire River. Founded by the Gauls and located at the intersection of Roman roads, it became an important trade center. The city gained popularity among travelers due to the important role of Joan of Arc (Jeanne d’Arc) in the Middle Ages. Among the places we will see are the Sainte-Croix Cathedral, a magnificent example of Gothic architecture with elegant stained-glass windows depicting scenes from Joan of Arc’s life, and Joan of Arc’s House. After our tour in Orléans, we continue on a short journey to Paris, the city of fashion and art in Europe. Upon arrival in the city, after our panoramic tour with our guide’s explanations, we arrive at Trocadéro Square, where we view the Eiffel Tower from across the way, take our iconic photos, and reach the Arc de Triomphe, one of Paris’s most important landmarks. We have free time on the Champs-Élysées with guidance from our tour guide. After meeting again, we settle into our hotel for the night.
Paris – Izmir – Antalya
After breakfast at our hotel, we check out of our rooms and, taking our seats in the vehicle waiting for us, head to the airport. We complete our passport and customs procedures to take our seats on the SunExpress Airlines flight that will take us to Adnan Menderes Airport, and begin our return journey. After arriving in Izmir local time, we take our SunExpress Airlines flight and reach Antalya. We say goodbye, hoping to meet again in our next tour program.
